Unless where you live is completely paved over, or planted with only
toxic plants (like Oleander and Lantana), you step out your door to a world of incredible abundance. This is where we talk
about what grows 'here' and what it's good for. Below
are pictures of plants under which are a common name, a genus and species name and family
name. Click the name that's underlined for a page about the plant. Another very good site, 'Plants for a future' is based on what grows in England. They manage an astonishing array, their knowledge is encyclopediac, and they are
very generous with it. I like them.
Throughout a lifetime of trying to reach past the 'rules' of organic gardening I have learned to let go and
let the place, and my fellow organisms in that place, become my teachers. Now a days, I focus on what we have
to give each other and, in doing so, find that "weeds" can be very generous beings indeed.
